Please, please keep praying

Please pray for Joseph right now. Sarah-Jane (Gill's sister) just called and told me he either kicked his IV out or it was taken out at some point and they are attempting to put it back in but have tried twice without it working. If you have ever had nurses fail at an attempt to give you an IV, you know how painful this is. At this point, they may have gotten it in but I am unable to reach anyone over the phone as I am no longer there in Atlanta myself.

Joseph has been very uncomfortable all day. Although he only drifts from sleep for short periods, he is asking to go home and says that his head has a boo-boo and that it hurts. Also, Gillian's Dad said that Joseph has been lying in the same position all day and the nurses are trying to move him, but he goes right back to the same spot.

Please pray that the pain Joseph is feeling will cease and that he will be able to comfortably change positions in his bed. Please pray that the IV will not irritate him and that he will soon be able to take plenty of fluids on his own so that the use of the IV will not be necessary.

Also, please pray that Joseph will sleep tonight. Basically, all day and most of the night, he wakes moaning and confused. Sometimes it is every ten minutes. I do know that last night he slept from around 4 - 6:30 with no wakings and yesterday he had some long chunks of sleep as well.

Allen told me a few hours ago that Joseph was actually awake for about 20 minutes today, which is MUCH longer than I saw him awake while I was there (usually less than a minute). During that time period he actually asked for a cheeseburger and took a bite once it was fetched for him. This morning he wanted to watch Shreck and also was asking for his Mimi (my Mom).

I think I speak for all of the family members who have had to drive back home and leave Joseph in saying that it was absolutely terrible to have to say goodbye and leave Allen and Gillian in Atlanta. Thankfully, Gill's Dad and my Mom are there with them now. I cannot express how much I wish we all lived in the same city. Anyway, we know they are surrounded with great support from their many friends there.

Please keep praying. Please keep checking this blog. Please keep leaving your encouraging comments.

At some point, when they are able, Allen and Gillian will take over this blog, but for now I will continue to update you all...

Jennifer

Allen, Gillian, and the Peabody family:
Jenny and I continue to pray for you. Although we have never met Joseph we feel like we know him so well through the many wonderful stories we have read and heard about him. God has given him a strong spirit. None of us may have answers for why things happen the way they will, but there is comfort in knowing that God's will will be done. We pray that you may have this comfort in your own hearts. Thank you for the updates and let us know how we may help beyond prayer. Love, Jenny and Andrew Kohr

With the ferocious spirit that Joseph has, I can imagine that he is uncomfortable! My prayer is that God would give him rest and heal him completely. I will pray that every moment on...... For Allen and Gillian, I pray for faith- that the knowledge of who God is and what He is capable of will be increasingly real each day. I pray that the love and prayer that are being poured towards you would be felt and will serve as a port in the storm. Many prayers for you tonight that rest would descend upon you all.

Gill, All and Joe P...I am praying for that IV to get in, for the booboo to feel better and for wisdom in deciding even where each of you should sleep. I know it must be excruciating just deciding who should sleep in there with him.
I am praying for sleep and rest for all 3 of you.
I am sorry for the hard day.
I love and miss you terribly

Yes - Sarah-Jane hit the nail on the head - I should have included that in the post... So glad Dad is coming down tomorrow to help too. What wonderful grandparents Joseph has.

"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Romans 10:15

Dearest Gillian & Allen,

Oh how I am praying that someone will bring you some good news....

And that God would supernaturally calm Joseph and that the nurses would be like angels (instead of like torturers which is how he must see them while they try to start IVs).

Thanks so much to Jennifer for starting this blog. I, like so many others, have Joseph and all of you on my mind & heart constantly and so appreciate the precious photos and frequent updates.

We love you and wish with all our hearts that you were not going through this.

Dear Allen & Gillian,
We are friends of Sarah-Jane who shared with us your news. We were blind-sided by a tumor in our 3 yr old that turned out to be a rare form of cancer. We are approaching week 10 of Chemo & understand the agonizing wait on path reports & IV insertions : ( NOT FUN! We have been & will continue to pray for your boy! It is hard to express in words what to say...HE will uphold you during this trial. Continue to rest in Him...let the Body serve....

As painful as it must be to take the time to type in the updates, please know - and trust - that those of us who are sharing your walk (and your pain) from afar appreciate your taking the time, and making the effort, to include us in what is going on.

With continued Prayers - and love - from Kansas City.

Holy God,

As we begin what we call a new day, we realize that you do not sleep,
you do not count your days and you do not worry.

We know that you have heard the cries in regard to your servants
Allen and Gillian. We praise you for your constant attention to the
details in our lives. We praise you for your intimate knowledge of
our hearts, our wishes, our blunders, our hopes, our failings, and
our great and terrible dread of situations that seem impossible.

Jesus, sweet and filled with mercy, we ask today for rest for Allen
and Gillian...give their bodies rest so they can be attentive to your
voice. As they minister to Joseph, Lord, allow them to be ministered
to. Give their minds fresh perspective today, give them new hope and
give them mercy...give them mercy. We cry out for mercy to them as
they watch their sweet young son suffering.

We praise you, God...you who will soon bring the sun to its proper
place in the sky today and who have given us eyes and souls to see
the wonder of you.

Amen

Ever since we have heard the news of sweet Joseph my heart has been in pain for your family and I have been in fervent prayer. I have all these things I want to say and try to tell your family how much Adam and I care, but the best way I can speak is through scripture. I found some verses that I hope bring comfort and encouragement.

"God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble" Psalm 46:1

"Come to me, all of you who are tired and have heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Accept my teachings and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit, and you will find rest for your lives." Matthew 11:28-29

"The Lord's love never ends; his mercies never stop. They are new every morning; Lord, your loyalty is great. I say to myself,'The Lord, is mine, so I hope in him.' " Lamentations 3:22-25

Allen and Gillian we are praying for you both and especially for sweet, sweet Joseph and we will keep praying. We love you and will continue to send our love.

Gillian, we are thinking of you all constantly. Zachary colored some pictures for Joseph this weekend which may hopefully help to brighten up his room. (Jody should bring when she stops by today.) We're longing to play with you all at the Shady Park again soon!

Dear Allen and Gillian, as a child who was in and out of hospitals, I'd like to ask you to please keep Joe warm mainly for two reasons: if our body is cold, blood veins "hide" (making it difficult to re-insert the IV) and it's impossible to sleep deeply. Hospitals have rules about temperature (to be free of germs), but deep-long sleep is needed to recover. Joe is in my prayers. Pau.

Hello Allen, Gillian, and Family- I am a co-worker of Lisa West and she told me about your situation. I, too, am a strong believer in prayer and I have my family praying for you in Maryland and Louisiana. Stay strong- my sister is a pediatric oncology nurse so she is a strong believer in miracles.

Just know that so many people are asking God to comfort all of you. God Bless.

Dear Joseph and Peabody family,

We pray that Jehova Raffa, the Great Physician, will completely remove the entire brain tumor in Jesus Name. We pray that the Peace of God will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus as you lay Joseph, His child and yours, before Him. We pray for strength for your family during this time of trial. In the Powerful Name of Jesus, amen.

We don't know you, but we love you and will continue to pray for each of you. 50 6th Graders from The Peoples Church in Franklin, TN will be praying for your family tonight and onwards.

Serving Him,
