Welcome Maggie June!

On Monday morning (Labor Day!!) we welcomed Maggie June to our family. She arrived at 5:09 a.m. and weighed in at 10 lb. 4 oz. and was 21 in. long. Our very sweet friend and neighbor, Abby, got a call from us at 2:15 a.m. and she rushed over to stay with Holly so we could go to the hospital. It was hilarious because Abby had told me, "Please call me if you go into labor, even if it's at 2:37 a.m." When Allen and I got into the car the time was 2:37 a.m. She was close!

So we arrived at the hospital and June was born 2 hours later. It was obviously a very quick labor, but everything went very smoothly and she is a healthy, sweet, adorable little baby. Holly is completely over the moon about being a big sister and is doing great in her adjustment to having a new baby in the house. She is very protective, too. Today I told her we had to take June to the doctor so they could check her weight and give her a shot. She almost started crying and said, "Don't let them give her a shot! I'm mad at the doctor!"

Here are a few pictures of our girl. We thank God for this new blessing. She is such a sweet baby.

I am so happy for you guys and glad that Holly can now practice her mothering on a real live baby sister, not just a doll! I pray that your house is full of joy in these first few weeks with your new blessing. I love her name!

Wow! Guess I lost track of the time! I guess Labor Day has a whole new meaning to you now. What a wonderful surprise to see that June has arrived safely! We are in the 10 lb club around here too! Hope to see you all at the rally run in October. Looking forward to more details about that when life settles at your house.
Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!

I looked up Maggie and it means Pearl. As she is such a treasure to the family and she was born early in the morning, I thought you'd like this poem.

I cannot wait to meet my new little second cousin. I cannot tell you how overjoyed I am for you all.

Holly is looking adorable, sweet and increasingly beautiful.

Love and hugs.

Robert Frost, The Valley's Singing Day

The sound of the closing outside door was all.
You made no sound in the grass with your footfall,
As far as you went from the door, which was not far;
But had awakened under the morning star
The first song-bird that awakened all the rest.
He could have slept but a moment more at best.
Already determined dawn began to lay
In place across a cloud the slender ray
For prying across a cloud the slender ray
For prying beneath and forcing the lids of sight,
And loosing the pent-up music of over-night.
But dawn was not to begin their 'pearly-pearly;
(By which they mean the rain is pearls so early,
Before it changes to diamonds in the sun),
Neither was song that day to be self-begun.
You had begun it, and if there needed proof--
I was asleep still under the dripping roof,
My window curtain hung over the sill to wet;
But I should awake to confirm your story yet;
I should be willing to say and help you say
That once you had opened the valley's singing day.
