Picture Update

The last few weeks have had some fun memories, despite the worries we are having with his physical symptoms. Here are a few photos with friends and family.

Painting, an ice cream party with Mimi, figuring out the skateboarder track with Grandad, and Joe and Holly with their friend Grey, taking refuge on the couch from the monster.
Joseph has really started to enjoy painting. I really think he was just swirling the paint brush around, but don't you think these pictures look like a dinosaur and a car? (his two favorite things!) Of course I'm not at all biased, but he must have a gift.

I too believe that Joe P. has great talent. How could he not?? It's in his genes!! I love watching him work with the colors, seeing how they mix and swirl on the paper. Holly is quite the painter, as well!
The other night when I took Joe P. out to look at the stars I was talking to him about how God is the Master Artist. I know He delights as well in Jospeh's amazing talent!
Love, Mimi

When Granddaddy and I got to visit last week at Mimi's, we were able to view Joseph's masterpiece of the car at his art show. He even showed us the different parts of the car. Thanks for the update and you are in our prayers. Love, Karl

Right when I saw the pictures, I definitely saw a car and a dinosaur. Joe has a gift for choosing beautiful colors and making them into something even more lovely. Thank you for sharing. Your children are so exquisite. I'm glad they had a blast!
Still praying every day and every night!

That IS amazing art. Before I scrolled down I was thinking, I can't believe Joseph did those! But I kind of guessed you weren't posting pictures of your own art. They really are something. I can't tell who looks like they are having more fun! Everytime we go to B-haven, Matthew points out the Brusters. Remember taking them there in their strollers for the free kids cones?? Thanks for keeping up the blog with pictures. We love to see them!

Any chance of these pictures or others going on sale? I imagine Joe could raise some money for his Target or Moe's fund! The boy has talent! Thanks for blessing our day with the great pictures. Love, Vann and Norma

I know you do not know me, I have never posted here before, but found this blog through my sister in Atlanta. Just wanted to let you know that I am praying for your sweet boy. My youngest, Samuel is the same age as him and I can not imagine how hard it must be to watch him having some struggles. It breaks my heart for you both, as his parents. I literally just wept the other day as I read the post about his face and the drinking. My dad had a brain tumor removed last year and that was a side effect that lasted about 8 months...it frustrated him so much. I love that through these blogs we can hear one another's stories and pray for one another, while we are on this side of heaven where there is so much sadness and sickness...makes me long for Jesus to just come back! Sorry for rambling, I am praying for you!!

Joseph definitely does have a gift - I saw the dinosaur and car immediately - even before reading your post!!! My son, Ryan, has bilateral facial palsy since his tumor was removed - he can no longer drink out of the tiny straws (like with juice boxes, etc.), but the larger flex straws seem much easier for him, we cut them to make them shorter, making it easier for him to suck - he also holds his mouth together when he drinks so the liquid doesn't run right back out and helps with swallowing - he has found his own "way" with all of this, which I know Joseph already is doing that as well - my heart aches for and with you - our situations are different, but yes, I think you are right that it is harder for us - missing that smile has been heartwrenching. KNOW that we continue to pray for a miracle for Joseph!!!

I believe that the Lord gives us peace that surpasses ALL understanding. Five years ago I walked through a similar situation with my daughter. We endured 2 1/2years of chemotherapy, prednisone and regular hospital stays at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. The Lord has allowed our daughter to continue to walk with us here on Earth. Praise be to God.

I can relate to the pain you are experiencing and I know it hearts. There were days when my soul ached. But know this, God is using this experience to make you and Allen the woman and man He created you both to be.

Remember a flower needs both the sun AND the rain in order to grow. But what a glorious reflection of God's grace and love when gazing upon a flower in full bloom! My prayers are with you all.

In His Grace,

Tangie

The pictures are great - I definitely see the dinosaur and car (before I read your post even)! I was really impressed the moment I saw them. If you are biased, then I must be too! I certainly think he has a gift as do the two of you for trusting God right now. I'm sure that it has to be so hard and I can barely understand. I wish I could do something even more physically tangible, but I'm certainly praying for you guys and Joseph. I hope you have a good weekend.

With love,
Brooke

You are not biased-- those paintings are awesome! I just wanted to let you know we are thinking about you and praying for you guys. I have been working for the last 5 years as a pediatric oncology RN at East Tn Children's Hospital. I know the battle you guys are in the middle of is devastating. I have had to do a lot of soul searching over the years just as a spectator-- and I still don't have all the answers, but I know God loves these little children more than i understand or can imagine.
