Coming Home

Joseph was released today from the hospital barely 48 hours since his brain surgery. Today he was up sitting on the floor playing for an hour and a half and he has started walking too. He isn't moving his head very much, but even that has improved just over today. We're spending the night back in the Grizzlies house and we have an appointment at St. Jude's in the morning. After that, we'll hopefully be back in the car on the way home. We are not sure when we will know the results of the biopsy but will be in conversation with our doctors once that comes back. Our main doctor has been out of town and will return next week. Please continue to pray for Joseph's healing--both from the surgery and from the tumor. His pain has gone down considerably, which is great. He is not needing much pain medicine at all. We are just giving him some every 6-8 hours or so. What a trooper! Thanks to everyone who is praying for Joseph and for us.

Thank you for updating! We are praying for a restful and peaceful night for all of you. It's just amazing that Joseph is healing so quickly from such a difficult surgery. It was so good seeing him sitting up, walking, and smiling today. Thank you to all the bloggers who have been praying!
Give Joe P a kiss and hug from Big Daddy and Mimi. We made it back to Franklin this evening. Sure do miss you and can't wait to see you tomorrow.

PS- Forgot to add to kiss Holly for us too. I can't believe how big she is from the pics. Every time I think Sarah is catching up to her (i.e. pigtails) she looks bigger and bigger- such a cutie!! I can't wait to see them both soon!

Joseph is so amazing! I'm so glad you guys are going to be able to go home. I know that is a relief, but may also be a little scary so quickly after surgery. I will pray that the doctors can instill confidence and that Joseph will continue to feel better.

Keep pressing on.

Wow! What a blessing to hear of his quick recovery from pain---and especially his funny wishes for undies and krocs! I know that must be an encouragement to you both to see his personality shine through, even in pain. I hear he downed two black-bottom cupcakes that 1st night after surgery! Please know that you are both in my prayers along with Joe P. and Holly (tonight I'm your " middle-of-the-night" prayer warrior--I can only imagine that He moves in many, many hearts and minds all 24 hours of everyday to cover your whole family!) YOU are troopers, as well. Our mighty God is surely sustaining you!

with love and prayers,
Carol

P.S. Tell Joe P. that I will make him more cupcakes!

We continue to pray for you every day, dear friends. I can't imagine enduring so many battles of body and spirit. I have felt very positive and reassured when praying for Joseph recently, which is odd because admittedly I tend to be a little negative. That may not mean anything, but it might, and I hope it does. You are all so amazing and we will continue to pray for you.

Hey Guys. Just wanted to let you know I have been praying for Joseph for some time. I am friends with Matt and Jennifer. Your testimony of God's faithfulness has been so encouraging to me. Your family has truly been a blessing. I wanted to let you know I initially signed up to run the Memphis St. Jude Marathon in December. I opted to just run the race and not pay the money to register to raise support for St. Jude. After reading about Joseph I changed my mind and called up St. Jude and asked them to add me to their fundraising team. Hopefully I will be able to raise a lot of money for this cause. I will definitely be running for your son. My prayers will continue to be with you and your family.

I am so glad Joe came through surgery so well and is on the fast road to recovery. He is such a little trooper. We are praying that God will bring complete healing to his little head. We are praying that you all will not be anxious, as you wait, and that together as we all pray, that you will experience His great peace. We love you guys, Intown misses you! Shannon Pierce
