Beach Fun

Well, we are having a great time at the beach. Joseph and Holly are thoroughly enjoying themselves and the weather has been great. Just seeing the ocean and the beautiful lakes and golf courses has done wonders for my soul. I didn't realize how much a change of scenery can lift your spirits. Being back in Atlanta was awesome, but this is like heaven! I think we mentioned this before, but one of Joseph's facial nerves was severely damaged from the surgery and so he doesn't have sensation or a corneal reflex on the left side of his face. It means that if something gets in that eye, he doesn't feel it or know it is there, and it could really damage his eye. Please pray that God would protect that eye, that we would see anything that does get in there, and that God would heal that nerve. The surgeon said it was "pretty much shot," but God can do anything so we'll ask anyway. (The reason I mention all this is that sand is a big concern while at the beach, and two days in a row we found two different specks.) We have been swimming in the pool a lot, and Joe has discovered he can "swim" when he has a little ring around him. He is so proud of this and says, "Look, I swim like Will!" (his hero and cousin). Soon Holly caught on and now we have two little swimmers! He also has gotten a lot more confident on his little bike and is pedaling around like a pro. Both of these things make him so proud and it's really cute to see.

They are so good to see. It's hard to keep back the tears. Tears of joy of course. I'm so happy that your holiday is working out so well. The photos are brilliant and the dancing exceptional. Hope to see you in the Summer. lots of love Ann & family

Oh my goodness, the smiles on your faces in those pictures warms my heart. When I think of the dark places you've been in the past few months - dark figuratively and dark literally like the inside of an MRI machine or a dimly lit hospital room, I am so happy to see you enjoying the sunshine and the fresh air and the surf. Soak it up!
With love, Suzanne

It is just fantastic to see these pictures and hear and see how happy you all are. What a much needed time for you all. Like you all said, I bet it is just so good to have a change of scenery. It is very obvious in the pictures how much fun Joe and Holly are having. Tell Joe, we are so proud of his swimming and bike riding. Can't wait to show Will this post when he gets home from school. He has talked a lot about Joseph in the last few days. He is ready to see his cousins again.

Thanks for sharing your prayer request. I will be praying for healing and protection over his eye.

Love you all tons, Lynn

I am so thankful that God is blessing you with a trip to the beach - it doesn't get any better than that! You all remain in our prayers - always thinking of you .....

Since you mentioned Joseph's nerve damage - I wanted to share this word that He has given to me this past week as I daily seek Him to restore Ryan's facial palsy - I am sure you have read it before, but this week it just had a completely different meaning for me as it came to me as I was specifically praying for those nerves in Ryan's face to be restored:

"I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalm 27:13&14 - He encouraged me to continue marching around my "Jericho" - until the wall comes down.

I didn't realize Joseph had nerve damage - so as I pray for Ryan I will lift this concern up as well.

"Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men." Psalm 107: 28-31.

I wrote at the beginning about my two year old son, Christopher, and his amazing survival of a mid-grade brain stem glioma. Joseph looks so much like Christopher did after radiation. I've relived so much of it through your blog. Christopher regained a partial blink but no corneal reflex or sensation on the right side of his face. He had many eye infections as a result. We had the same trouble with sand and other boys with sticks etc. After a close call we got glasses for Christopher with clear lens. He thought they were cool and they definitely protected his eye.

Still praying,
Patty Rice

The grandma's are thinking about you guys at the same time!! We LOVED the pictures and the video of the "Dancing Peabody Ducks". Reminds me of several we have of Jennifer and Allen at that age. I love the dress and bow on the Princess. All of you look great in the pictures!!
My class looked at the pictures and watched the blog, and I read them what you wrote. They said that they would be praying for Joseph's eye and nerve. We will pray tomorrow morning during staff prayer!
We miss you all so much! The colors in Destin look so beautiful.I think God uses the beach and salt air to heal hearts and souls, at least it has always done that for me.

It's always a party, wherever the Peasmacks are staying! Fun times. If the sand gets too bothersome, let me know and I'll mail you my eye patch. (Wish I could mail you some of my pasty whiteness along with it ... just so you could set it out in a chair while the kiddos are swimming.)
